My love affair with Pilates began in 1988. However, it wasn’t until after having my four daughters that I was able to take my first teacher training program in 2002. Personally, I had experienced cervical spine issues which limited my movement. I learned firsthand, Pilates was truly a healing modality. The Pilates Method was the one thing that fully helped restore my range of motion, my strength and flexibility. Once teaching, I was eager to expand my knowledge as each client presented to me unique issues and goals.
At that point I was driven to further my practice by training in the authentic work of Joseph Pilates, which he called “Contrology”. Many people now call it “Classical Pilates”. I went on to complete three different training programs, all taught by 2nd generation teachers who learned from one of the five lineages of Mr. Pilates himself.
My passion for the method is equally divided between continuing work to learn as a student and teacher of the Pilates Method. Pursuing my personal movement practice is a way of life, fostering in me new challenges and a zest for life. As a teacher, I am committed to training my students in the mind-body connection. My specialty is helping all bodies, including those who suffer from long term pain, the aging population, and post rehabilitation patients from injuries and or surgeries including Cancer and Autoimmune Conditions. I teach a weekly movement class at WeSpark Cancer Support Center in Sherman Oaks. I have extensive training in making Pilates accessible to all bodies. Continuing my education adds value to how I enrich the lives of others.
“Change happens through movement and movement heals.” I believe in this quote by Joseph Pilates wholeheartedly.
